SUMMER FILM COURSES

FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE 2006

This summer the IFI and Filmbase have joined forces to offer two exciting filmmaking courses for children and young people.

Each course is practical and hands-on. Guided by experienced mentors, participants will devise, script and shoot a short film. There will be additional workshops in Acting for Camera & Improvisation, plus special film screenings at IFI cinemas. All participants will receive DVD copies of their edited films.

R E E L M A G I C:
Aimed at younger filmmakers (10 – 13 yrs) R E E L M A G I C is a fun, active course with the emphasis on developing practical filmmaking skills. Participants are encouraged to take different roles behind and in front of the camera. There will be a rough-cut screening of their film on the last day when participants will also be presented with certificates of achievement.

SCREENAGERS:
Designed specifically for young people aged 14 – 16 yrs +, SCREENAGERS is a practical, fun, challenging course with an emphasis on developing story and character. Participants will devise, prepare and shoot their own short film with guidance from an experienced mentor. After the course the film will be edited and there will be a later showcase screening at Filmbase and DVD copies for all participants.
