The IFI is delighted to present our second Anime Weekend.
Japanese anime has sat at the forefront of animation for many years, engaging adults, teenagers and children from across the world, from the sights of a ruined Tokyo in Akira to the enthralling work done by Studio Ghibli, most recently in Ponyo. Anime can portray outstanding concepts that would cost a lot more to do or simply would not work well in a live film, and this weekend is out to prove it. Time-travelling schoolgirls, giant robots protecting humanity, bittersweet romance and more at the IFI Anime Weekend!
We will be joined throughout the weekend by Andrew Partridge and Hugh K. David who both have extensive experience of the anime industry, and Jonathan Clements, author of Schoolgirl Milky Crises: Adventures in the Anime and Manga Trade, and co-author of the Anime Encyclopedia.
IFI Anime Weekend is organised with the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation.
