IFI OPEN DAY: MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW

A little-known Hollywood masterpiece of the 1930s, Leo McCarey’s Depression-era tale of an ageing couple forced to separate in their twilight years was the inspiration for Ozu’s Tokyo Story. It’s not only a heartbreaking portrayal of old age, but also a poem about the transcendent power of romantic love.

Tickets for all films will become available at 11am on February 6th from the IFI. Tickets will not be available online or by phone, with a maximum of 4 tickets per person, all allocated on a first come, first served basis. Arrive early as tickets are expected to go quickly!

91 mins • USA • 1937 • B&W
Director: Leo McCarey
