This year’s festival of French cinema, organised by the Film Institute in collaboration with the French Embassy in Dublin, will open with Jean-Luc Godard’s long-waited new film, Eloge de l’amour (In Praise of Love). Godard will also be the subject of a selective retrospective during the period of the festival and possibly beyond. Other new titles already confirmed for the event include Jacques Rivette’s Va savoir (Who Knows?), Manoel de Oliveira’s Je rentre à la maison (I’m Going Home), Catherine Corsini’s La repetition (Replay) and Jacques Doillon’s Carrement à l’Ouest (Totally Flaky). A separate programme booklet will be produced for the festival and available from the IFC and other outlets in November.
